In 1888, Portugal's famous literary legend, José Maria de Eça de Queiroz penned the following sentiment, "Everything in Sintra is divine. There is no corner that is not a poem." Sintra is one of the most impressive day trips in this region. Because Sintra is so popular, the town is lively in all seasons and most businesses are open year-round. It does take a bit of planning to see some of the more visited historic sites but you will be rewarded with a rich experience fit for royalty.
