Commissioned in 1718 by D. Historical records attest to visits by King João VI, accompanied by Prince Pedro, later Emperor of Brazil, King Miguel, and Queen Maria I, further cementing Nazaré's reputation as a royal retreat.

With the end of the monarchy and the establishment of the Portuguese Republic, the palace was repurposed for various social functions, including Carnival balls and local festivities, reflecting the community's evolving use of public space. Today, it houses offices of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Nazaré and occasionally hosts temporary exhibitions in its noble hall.
