Inspired by the poignant theme "The Castaway," the Monumento ao Náufrago is more than a sculpture-it is a soul-stirring tribute. Created by Manuel Lopes, a distinguished disciple of Master Barata Feio, the piece earned critical acclaim at the Porto Fine Arts Exhibition, where its emotional depth and masterful execution left a lasting impression.
Offered as a heartfelt gift to the people of Nazaré, this powerful monument was first unveiled in March 1958 at the end of Rua C, deep in the heart of the Fisherman's Quarter-a place where the scent of the sea mingled with the stories of those who braved it.
